First Hair Cut

IMG_9951 2
Back in September, my friend Heather [best hair stylist in Nashville, I must say] trimmed Ezras hair for me….but 4 months later….he was in need of a full on hair cut. I knew exactly where I was going to take him….to the barber shop where daddy goes!

I saved the little bits of hair that Heather trimmed, but this time around….I was handed real locks of hair, with curls and all! I’ll be honest……when I heard the clippers fire up….I got a little emotional deep down. Right before my eyes….my baby was crossing over into boyhood.

The experience…was a little traumatic. Ezra wasn’t a huge fan of any of it- the chair, the cape, the clippers, the scissors or the shave brush. However, I have photos to remember the day…..a certificate and long locks of hair!

Oh Ezra…..I love you so much. You are growing so quickly….becoming more and more independent. You are such a sweet little boy….and I love you oh so much. Here’s another memory for the books!

Favorite Little Moccasins

I met Melanie of Starry Knight Design this past summer at the Whitefish Farmers Market…..actually, at Huckleberry Days! I had been dressing Ezra in her adorable handmade shoes for months…so it was awesome to meet the sweet momma who puts her heart and soul into these teeny tiny shoes!

While I was in Dallas visiting Vanessa….we did a little photoshoot with Ezra & Stella in their handmade moccasins. How cute are they?? I just love these little faces…..and those cute soft sole shoes, of course.

For our blog readers….Melanie has offered a DISCOUNT CODE! So visit her Etsy shop and use kandv10 for a 10% discount off your purchase. OFFER ENDS this THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10th! Ezra also has the Bison & Fox ones….my favorites!

/// I photographed Ezra in his Fox shoes this afternoon! I ordered these a little bigger so he could wear them with socks as the weather chills.

Homemade Baby Food

I’ve been wanting to make my own batch of purees for Ezra for a while, but as motherhood and entrepreneurialism goes….I’m just not getting around to it! This might sound crazy, but I truly enjoyed this process. I kinda felt like super mom for about an hour. HA!

For this first round- I went with basics. Even though Ezra has had a variety of food combinations already…I just wanted to start fresh. A friend of mine [who I hope starts a food blog soon!!] reminded me that right now is where Ezra begins to experience different flavors…and it’s really hard to distinguish different tastes/flavors when they are combined with others. There are so many creative combinations that I want to try making on my own, when I don’t make the baby food I like to buy the best organic baby formula in the market, but for now….I used the baby bullet to puree Organic apples, pears, blueberries, spinach and broccoli!

I posted this photo on Instagram yesterday and was asked about the process. I should have photographed step-by-step, but I didn’t [but it’s super simple]. When I do the fun food combinations- I will document that for sure!

I bought whole Organic apples, pears and blueberries….the pears were a little hard so I added a bit of warm water as I blended it. I also had frozen Organic broccoli and spinach already on hand so I just used that for this round. These were already chopped, but I did add a bit of warm water to get the consistency that I wanted.

Lastly, I used a combination of colorful tape to mark each mason jar so I [or anyone else for that matter] could easily determine what each jar contained. More photos can be found in this post.

What food combinations have you mommas made for your little ones? I love all these vivid colors!

Little Indian

Having a baby to dress up definitely put the fun back into Halloween for me this year. In keeping with the “Little Brave Man” theme that was from my baby shower…..it seemed so right to dress Ezra up as a Little Indian!

I was inspired by Kelli Murray, who made adorable headpieces for her daughters 1st birthday. Loved this idea! I also need to thank my sweet friend Jennie Lusko for helping me stitch this headpiece for Ezra!

Oh how I love my little brave man…..so cute!!

p.s we missed Daddy today…who’s out of town. BOO.
