Weekend Adventure

[iphone photo taken by my drummer during rehearsal. thanks Garner!]

It was a busy weekend in Whitefish. We spent the majority of our time at our shop and at church, where I lead worship again this weekend.

Reed and Ezra had more daddy-son time on Saturday, while momma was rehearsing….I really love seeing them together. Reed is such an amazing dad and I love how much he adores Ezra.

I’m really enjoying time away from Social Media on Friday [half-day] and all day Saturday. It’s so nice to be in the moment with my family, while being intentional about documenting bits of our life.

Anyone else joining me in a social media sabbath? It can be any day[s] that you choose- Saturdays just seemed to be a day that I was glued to my phone, while sitting on the couch with my family- not cool. So, thats why I chose a weekend day. I want to make the most of our time together….

My Little Valentine

A baby definitely breathes new life into holidays….especially into the ones I never really made a big deal of, like Halloween and Valentines Day. Now…it’s worthy of finding a holiday spirit in exchange for the cutest photos, right?!?

I found a wool heart garland at Target a few weeks ago and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I sent a text to my neighbor Lindsey, who is also a photographer and asked if she wanted to photo swap. I’ve talked about this before, but moms need to be in more photos with their kids [and yes, dads too!]. Even as a photographer- I really don’t have that many photos of Ezra and I together. So, back to the garland….I was inspired to plan a super low key…mini photoshoot.

You don’t have to plan for a long-drawn out session. Ezra could only handle about 20 minutes right about now, before getting distracted and just over-it. So, the goal was 10 minutes, a plain white wall, a fun garland and me and my boy. Easy! I’m so thankful that I took the bit of time to plan this out and see it through….I hope this encourages a few mommas to do the same. It doesn’t take much….just a little vision and follow through!

Thanks again Lindsey…I love these photos with all my heart. xo

//// And a favorite that I took of Lindsey and little E.

Jen - As a photographer, I find it hard to get myself into photos – even without a little one. I think you’re right about more momma & baby photos, and I try to always capture those for friends and family when we’re all out and about with little ones. Love that little garland, too! Wish we lived in an area of Montana with a Target.. oh well, a girl can dream. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Allyson - These are so simple, but adorable. Totally in love with the last one of you and E. I love the little look you are sharing! 🙂

becka - So so true kelli! I never seem to make it into pictures – I joke that my children may look back and think they had an absentee mother. 🙂 Thinking of scheduling a shoot now for ME and the kids…!

Seven Months

Seriously? My baby is SEVEN MONTHS old already? We are over half way to his 1st birthday! I can’t believe this.

Well, this month was another fun one:

1. TWO MORE TEETH! Thats right- we’ve seen two teeth pop up a month for the last three months….making this a total of 6 teeth for our little guy.

2. Someone discovered their tongue. Ezra sticks his tongue out all day long….he keeps out to smile too! So funny.

3. Getting someone dressed is becoming difficult. Ezra has started to throw a little fit whenever we put anything over his head- he’s not a fan of this. At all.

Oh Ezra….I selfishly want you to stop growing so fast. You are such a big boy- can we talk about your thunder thighs and your total weight being 22 pounds? You’re definitely not a baby-baby anymore. You know what food is….our dinner experiences aren’t the same anymore….you want everything that we put in our mouth!
We love you so much- and really can’t imagine how we ever lived our lives together without you. We thank God for you everyday. We pray over you every night….that you would love Jesus with all your heart and that you would be used to make Jesus famous. We believe this for your life- your name means “Gods Help” so what a perfect helper you will be!

Love,
momma & daddy

Weekend Adventure

WEEKEND ADVENTURES // This is a new weekly blog feature. There are two things that make this feature special.
1. The goal is to document a few little moments [real moments- no styling here!] as a family during the weekend with my real camera. I love using my iPhone, but I want to get back to shooting US with my camera.

2. I am holding myself to a Technology Sabbath. I want need to unplug from social media from time to time…and be present with Reed and Ezra…and my friends. I’m not sure how long this Sabbath will be in effect, but I just feel like I need to unplug on the weekends and re-focus my priorities and in return make sweet memories with my family. Life is just too short. Feel free to join me and blog your weekend adventures!

This weekend was Winter Carnival in Whitefish. The theme was “Pirates on Parade”….so Ezra and I sported our Skull apparel, while our employees got into character….so much fun! The streets get shut down right in front of our cafe and there’s live music, food vendors, a massive parade and good time had by all. The weather was absolutely perfect. And by perfect weather, Im talking 44 degrees, blue sky and sunshine!

Ezra entertained the long line of people waiting for lattes and hot chocolates in the shop. He had a good time….our family weekend was a good one.

2.5.13

Jake Bramante - I would like to title the second to the last photo “cotton candy buns” which, incidentally was my nickname in high school…. don’t ask.

(also, Ezra is killing me with his faces!)
