Weekend Adventure

WEEKEND ADVENTURES // This is the beginning of a new weekly blog feature. There are two things that make this feature special. The goal is to document a few little moments [real moments- no styling here!] as a family during the weekend with my real camera. I love using my iPhone, but I want to get back to shooting US with my camera. It doesn’t make sense that I own the camera, but everyone else reaps the benefits from it. I definitely haven’t photographed my family as much as I should.

The next important piece around this feature is that I am holding myself to a Technology Sabbath. I want need to unplug from social media from time to time…and be present with Reed and Ezra…and my friends. I use Twitter to quote my pastor at Church– so tweeting on Sunday is allowed, but other than that….no Facebook or Instagram for this momma. I’m not sure how long this Sabbath will be in effect, but I just feel like I need to unplug on the weekends and re-focus my priorities and in return make sweet memories with my family. Life is just too short.

I know without a doubt that we will begin to have better weekends- sweeter family time without the distraction of our iPhones. Feel free to join me…..and unplug from whatever is taking you away form your family…and start documenting your WEEKEND ADVENTURES!

This weekend was low-key. We actually spent a lot of time at home…as Ezra is getting over a cold. We ordered pizza in and watched movies…and played on the floor with our happy boy!

We Go Together

I am loving this first holiday season with our sweet baby Ezra. This weekend we were intentional about spending time together- less time at the cafe– and beginning new traditions that we’d like to incorporate for years to come.

When it comes to “baby’s first Christmas ornament” I went round and round with different ideas. Reed and I finally decided that we wanted to make Ezras 1st Christmas ornament together and there just so happens so be an amazing art studio just down the street from us. Reed is really creative when it comes to art…so this was a fun project to do together. He picked out the colors that we used for the ornament…and I can NOT wait to see how it looks after its fired and glazed. We get to pick it up later this week….

We also visited Santa at the Whitefish Lake Lodge! This place is gorgeous this time of year and we thought we would have a better experience there than waiting in line at the mall….and a great experience is exactly what we had! Ezra got to meet Cowboy Santa! He was skeptical at first, but quickly warmed up to that jolly man in the red suit!

Our weekend ended with lattes & chocolate…perfection!

I’d love to hear what traditions all you mommas have with your family for Christmas. Did you start something new this year? Feel free to share in the comment box below!
