Stumptown Coffee

Last month we drove out to Portland, Oregon for another coffee training at Stumptown Coffee headquarters. This time we brought Chelsea, one of our Red Caboose baristas with us…..our minds were exploding with so much goodness.

I absolutely love Stumptown. Not only is their coffee arguably one of the tops in the industry, but everyone who is involved within the company is super legit. Super nice. So accommodating. Very Knowledgeable. Like Family. Being that we are in a completely different state than our coffee roaster- its incredible to have the relationships that we do with them. Stumptown cares. They genuinely care about people…..and this is why I love them dearly and stand behind their product with all my heart. It really is an honor to be partnered with them.

Another thing that I love about Stumptown is how hands on they are. They know their farmers. Every aspect of their process is handled and touched by a human being. I love meeting the faces that work in the roastery and pack up our weekly shipments of beans. It’s awesome.

Stumptown has a reason to be proud of what they have created, however they are not prideful or have an arrogance about them. This was Chelseas take-away from the weekend. There’s some super snob-y coffee folks out there [even in our small community] and its really refreshing to be around people doing great things, without the attitude.

Ezra loved his time at headquarters as well! The last time he was there with us- he was only 3 months old…this time we has hanging out like he owned the place! I love that we get to do this as a family….

Reed and I have decided that a trip to Portland once a year is something we’d love to do…..and that means that we get to swing by headquarters and soak up more knowledge from the fine folks at Stumptown…

Here’s a peak into our Stumptown Coffee adventure…..

OH! Did I mention that we had the opportunity to meet the founder of Stumptown? Yea, super awesome to meet Mr. Duane Sorenson. Read his latest article in Bon Appétit!

Little Conductor

I can’t believe that it has been ONE YEAR since I dressed a 3 month old Ezra as a Little Indian and yesterday, as 15 month old as a Little Conductor! Geez, this year has flown by.

Halloween snuck up on us this year….so we woke up debating whether or not Ezra would be a Montana Lumberjack or Little Conductor. Being that Ezra really runs the Red Caboose– we thought it was fitting for him to dress the part! Luckily, we had all the elements in his closet….to dress him as the cutest conductor we’ve ever seen!

Ezra loved watching all the kids who came in the shop to trick-or-treat. He also loved walking running up and down Central Avenue [representing the red spoon!]…..he pretty much runs the town! HA!

Our baby is walking!

I knew this day would come. This is the very reason why I allowed it to just happen….without rushing it.

It’s achievements like this that remind me that my baby is growing…..and quickly!

Same goes for sleep training. Every baby is different- thats why we can’t compare our babies. However, EVERYONE has opinions on sleep. To be honest, I didn’t read one book on trying to get Ezra to sleep through the night. I knew he would do it….and eventually he did [still does] and is now in his own room- in his own bed- and wouldn’t even sleep with Reed and I if I tried to trick him into it! I’ve really soaked in all 15 months of Ezras life. With your first baby you can do more than you can with two or three [or so I’ve been told]….you can bend “the rules”…and thats what I’ve done. I look back on the days when he slept by my side all night long…on the nights when he would wake every few hours…and I cherish those moments. Those things don’t happen anymore [don’t get me wrong- I’m loving my sleep], but I sure do look forward to seeing my baby each morning. I miss him so much in that almost 12 hour gap!

Back to walking…..yea, we have a walker and a climber on our hands. Our adventure just got a bit more exciting!

Ezra, I love you more than I can express in words. You are a blessing. You continue to reveal parts of me that need refining, but I am constantly inspired and encouraged. We never knew we could love this much…..we are so proud of your accomplishment this week. This is just the beginning……

Love,
Momma & Daddy

Sweet Pickin’s Pumpkin Patch

Even though Ezra is still little to fully take in the adventures on a pumpkin patch….we still decided to head on over to Sweet Pickens this past weekend to begin our new yearly family tradition. Reed and I always looked forward to our annual trip to Gentry’s Farm in Franklin, TN….so we are thrilled to have found this pumpkin patch and enjoy this tradition with our sweet son.

It’s so awesome to see Ezra soak up everything around him, including the Trike Trail, Tractor Ride and the Farm Animals! I mean….I can only image what he thinks about pumpkins that are as big as he is! I love seeing his eyes fill with wonder and excitement! He absolutely loves being around other kids….so he was in heaven with little ones to the left and right of him. Everyone is a “baby” to Ezra….and he’d gladly hug everyone in sight. Such a sweet-sweet boy. There’s so many different activities for all ages- so I love that each year will be a little different for our little explorer.

This was such a fun afternoon together as a family…..one of my favorite things to look forward to each Fall for sure!

October Desktop Download

September was a blur. Such a busy-busy month and the first time in over a year that Ashley and I weren’t able to collaborate on this series. I love our mutual commitment to excellence and balance. Neither of us wanted to just throw something together and we both cherished a lot of family time last month….so that alone was worth it.

This months collaboration is extra special because Vanessa of ButterflySparks styled this for us while I was visiting with her in Dallas last week. I love working with Vanessa so I was excited to have her part of this.

I absolutely love the quote this month. Autumn truly is a time of gathering….I’ve already started pulling out my Fall candles and have picked up a few table decorations for dinner parties that I want host this month. October kicks off a new season of gathering….new conversations…& evaluating of goals as we approach the new year.

Seasons like this offer such rich opportunities to connect with people [strangers and loved ones]. I want to be more intentional than ever. I want to use all that God has given me [my house, a kitchen table, a couch, coffee mugs ect…] to connect with friends….on a whole new level. I recently returned from a trip to Nashville, which completely encouraged me. I didn’t realize parts of me  were totally drained….and I needed a re-filling. I love that my friends used their homes as a place of refreshment for me. I want to mirror this.

I hope this new download inspires you….to look for new ways to connect and gather, and most importantly…to be intentional.

XO!

Amanda Lovig Hagg - I was born in Sept, so the fall season is my “new year” (instead of January) and is when I do most of my reflecting and goal setting… so I love this post. Thank you!
